SF Public Transit - Let Early Sober You help Later Drunk You figure out how to get around

  • Trip Planner (this will help you figure out which public transit to take)

  • Google Maps (also good for planning transit)

  • Muni (bus) $2.50 for a few hours of riding around SF (get your stub so you can take it again for free)

  • BART (train)  -$1.95 - $15.70 per ride depending on distance (connects to South SF and East Bay)

  • NextBus - This will tell you when the next Muni bus is going to arrive (hopefully)

  • Routesy - This iphone app works really well for SF transit.'

  • QuickMuni - Super-accurate bus GPS app for Android

(Google Maps can give you public transit directions, but use NextMuni.com for more specific info about San Francisco's Muni.)

A Clipper card will cover you for both BART trains (http://www.bart.gov/) and MUNI bus/train rides around town (details below). You can buy and preload one at any BART/MUNI station, but not at bus stops, etc. If you get on a MUNI bus without a Clipper card, be prepared to pay $3 cash!

**If you want to travel using the Clipper app instead of carrying an extra card: https://www.clippercard.com/ClipperWeb/clipper-on-your-phone

MUNI buses/trains are $3 no matter where you’re going:

MUNI line #s are buses, MUNI line letters are underground trains (except the F is a trolley going down the center of Market Street and is kinda fun)

  1. Enter your destination in the Google Maps app

  2. Hit the blue Directions button

  3. Select the little train

  4. Search for the appropriate #/letter in your transit app

BART trains are more limited and slightly more expensive but less confusing and faster, charging by the length of your…….trip. (WHAT? You have a dirty mind)

Airport to SF

You do not need to rent a car if you're flying into San Francisco or Oakland. Parking is terrible and you're here to drink and have fun.

San Francisco Airport (SFO):

  • Take BART to downtown San Francisco for ~$10.

  • UBER or Lyft will be ~$30

  • Cab...Unless you are allergic to public transit as this will be $50-60

Oakland Airport (OAK):

  • Take the airport extension to BART ($6 each way) and then take BART to downtown San Francisco.

  • Uber or Lyft will be ~$45
  • Cab...seriously, take public transit and save the $60 for beer!

  • Airport shuttles (like Supershuttle) may be available for $20-30 plus tip one way but COVID has made things a little weird. Check their website for what they currently offer.
