The SF Rec and Park people have finally decided that outdoor volunteer work can resume despite the Covid surge.  I always felt that the kind of work that we were doing was about as safe as anything that was actually permitted during the pandemic.  I apologize for the late notice, but blame it on  the SFRPD Volunteer Program.  They sent out an email on 8-30, while I was setting the SFH3 trails.  It took another day to find out it was related to the work that we have been doing in the past.  Enough with the explanations, here are the details:

Date:     Saturday 9-4-2021   9:30 AM  until Noon
Where:  Meet at the Parking Lot for the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater
Wear:    Long Pants and Long Sleeves (we will be doing battle with Himalayan Blackberry)
Dress in layers, the sun could come out, but the area is shaded.  Bring your own
favorite gardening gloves, but gloves and tools will be provided.  Rec and Park also
provide water and snacks after the work.  SFH3 will provide BEER!!!
Note:     Let me know if you need a ride to the worksite from the Glen Park Bart Station.
I will set a hash trail to the worksite for those who arrive late.

One additional observation about the Grey Fox Creek work site:  We have been working on eradicating blackberry from the creek drainage for some time.  This isn't just cosmetic work.  The future plan for the area is to remove many of the social trails and restore it to a natural creek drainage.  If we can clear the blackberry, the area can all be restored with native riparian vegitation.  The creek should even be flowing better in the future.  The trails that currently cross it will be removed and a better trail with observation areas will send human traffic above and around the area.  Let's hope the trail improvement program and contractors can also resume soon.

ON-ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  See you in the Park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
